It’s always a good time for storytime, and long holidays like Passover, when kids are usually off of school, provide plenty of time for snuggling up with your little ones for a good story. But while the idea of a Passover-themed storytime is appealing, it’s easy to get bored pretty quickly of the usual stories about seders and afikoman hunts, and how the Jews left Egypt. Here’s a solution to that problem:

More than almost any other Jewish holiday, Passover is about stories. While almost every holiday includes a big festive feast with traditional foods, the Passover seder is unique in that the meal itself and all the traditions within it revolve specifically around the telling of the Passover story–the story of the Israelite’s hardships in Egypt and the Exodus to freedom. But how do you explain so many traditions and such a complicated story to a preschooler?

Passover For the Pint-Sized

Passover is a uniquely special holiday in the Jewish calendar. One of the longer holidays, and set apart from the rest of the year by its unique rules and practices–it is a wonderful excuse to really have kids experience the richness of Jewish tradition. But how do you convey the wonder of the Passover story, or of so very many special traditions packed into one holiday, to a toddler?
