Never Tease a Weasel

Written by Jean Conder Soule - Illustrated by George Booth

May 14th, 2010 by Noodlenuts

I have no in-depth analysis or pithy commentary for this one—just an enthusiastic recommendation for a book that is buckets of fun.  Never Tease a Weasel is a relatively short, extremely silly rhyming book that needs little if any explanation.

The watercolour illustrations are are softly colourful and messily enchanting, a beautiful complement to the absurdity of the text.

It’s a bit of a tongue-twister, so you may want to do a quick preparatory read-through before reading it aloud to your kids, but once you get the rhythm of it, it reads like  wonderful song, bouncy and silly and joyful, and is sure to put a smile on the face of both reader and listener.
